It was really late when I got back to my room. Frowning, I saw that the floor was covered with mattresses. I had stopped counting how many people slept here. I went to the bathroom, trying not to wake the others and stripped out of my soaked clothes. I thought about Cian and his spacious loft and my heart ached. I bit my lip and climbed into the bathtub.

I soaked in the hot water for a long time. I washed my hair and applied Liv’s cream to my damp curls, gently brushing them. When I was done, I looked at myself in the mirror, hating everything I saw. The guilt was killing me. Why did I do that? I knew I was going home no matter what.

Why did I kiss him?

Deep down, I knew that he liked me. I do not know how I knew, but I knew. I thought about his impossibly gentle touches and my head started to spin. I never knew it could be like this. The reality was so much more intense than anything I have ever heard about kissing. I remembered my hands in his hair and our ragged breaths mixed together. My cheeks flushed and I splashed my face with cold water. When I opened the door to the room, a lamp was on and no one was sleeping. All the girls were waiting for me.

“What happened?” Polly asked.

“Why are you awake?” I stepped into the room, drying my curls with a towel.

“I can tell something happened,” Polly looked at Liv, who watched me from her spot on the bookshelf.

“She was with a guy,” Lisa said, watching me suspiciously.

“Why are you still sleeping here?” I asked instead of giving a response.

“Don’t change the subject!” Rosalila stretched her arms up, yawning.

“And you. You have your own room,” I snapped.

“I only want to know if it was William or Cian.” Lisa raised her eyebrows.

“I’m not talking to you about it!” I muttered.

“Clearly, it did not go well,” Liv purred.

“I can’t believe it.” I dropped on my bed and wrapped myself in my blanket.

“You know, the first time may be a little awkward. That isn’t unusual,” Rosalila said.

Instead of responding, I threw my pillow at her.

“Although, if she was with William, he would probably be terrible at it no matter how many times they do it,” Lisa whispered loudly.

I threw a second pillow at her.

“I bet they found out about each other. Cian and William,” Rosalila added.

I pressed my blanket to my ears trying to block out the sounds of their voices.

“You know you can always talk to me.” Polly’s voice sounded just inches away from my face, she whispered so quietly that no one else could hear.

“Not right now,” I responded.

“Alright, girls, time to sleep.” Polly moved around the room, extinguishing the lamp, and forcing everyone to go back to bed.
