Sin is called sin because it poisons us and ruins our lives. God gives believers grace and a god-like nature to help them avoid sin. Several Gnostic cults, including the Nicolaitans, Valentinians, Carpocratians, and others, taught people should practice sin in order to prove it had no power over them!
