Chapter 14. Hunsford

The Disappearance of a Lady’s Diamonds. (Essex) In the great house in Essex, a guest has her diamond necklace stolen. A young footman from the house is murdered in a home in the village. The murderer stole the other guest’s necklace and killed the footman because he was afraid the man had seen something that would lead someone from the great house to solve the theft. A young woman, visiting the house to spend time with her fiancé who is also a visitor, solves the murder with that gentleman’s help. The story is published one chapter at a time in the newspaper twice a week from March to September as another ‘Anonymous Murders’. Published as a novel in October.
