Slowed Down by Weighty Glory

When I spent a week on the floor in Canada without being able to walk or talk, God taught me a profound lesson in dependence. I didn’t like being unable to get up and move around as I pleased or to speak or even to go the restroom by myself. My extreme need for other people was uncomfortable and inconvenient. I felt very vulnerable. For seven days I literally could not do anything without some fellow member of the body of Christ being there to pick me up and take me where I needed to be.

During this time I felt the Lord telling me I was always moving, but now was the time to stop, be still, and rest. He just wanted me to lie on the floor and let Him love me. He held me in His weighty glory. He slowed me down so I couldn’t move outside His presence. He spoke beautiful words to me and made me still.

It remained uncomfortable to be stuck on the floor with no control over myself, but I replied to Him, “Yes, Lord, I yield to Your will!” Of course, I still wanted to move, but I didn’t fight Him. Sometimes I found myself thinking I really wanted a drink, and someone I didn’t know would come and bring me a glass of water.

God had captured all my attention. He told me I could do nothing without Him and nothing without His body. He was germinating something powerful, causing my own little heart and vision to expand to a bursting point. I believe He was causing my inability to become His ability. I believe God, by His Holy Spirit, overshadowed me and planted a nation inside me.

How does He do that?

Who can say?

He is God, and He does whatever He likes. He will use anyone, even a little mama like me. God can use anybody who is yielded, who is in love with Him, and who says yes.
