her music. I never allow those two currentswlovemaking and music—to cross each other.

I’d never want to make love to a woman thinking that the only reason she agrees is because I’m her boss. I can’t feature that. I have to feel that she wants me as much as I want her. And I look for the signs. You can always tellwa slight touch on the shoulder, something in the way she shakes your hand or takes your arm, all those small gestures which say, “Maybe if you ask me, I just might give you a little.”

I also have another personal sex policy: If a girl’s with another guy in the band, I leave her alone. I don’t want my cats thinking that I’m interfering with their business or their love life. I don’t want one of the musicians believing that he has a girl already made and then suddenly swooped up and stolen by the boss. I couldn’t live with that.

If a chick wants to get with me, and if I want to get with her, we’ll work it out. Sometimes I’ll have to wait. I’ll have to be certain that she ain’t messing with anyone in the band. But time, you know, is a bitch; it can be your enemy or it can be your friend—I learned that early in
