Uses CSMA/CD to detect collisions

Uses one pair of wires and can send or receive at only one time, not both at once

Is the only type of connection that a hub is capable of using

Full-Duplex Communication Full-duplex transmission uses both pairs of wire, one dedicated to sending and the other to receiving. It uses a point-to-point connection between the two devices. In this type of connection, there is only one device (or network interface) on either end.

Point-to-point connections are not always between two separate physical devices. They can be made between any two interfaces that are capable of full-duplex.
