Let’s go places

we’ve been before,

visit old friends,

learn who this

or that one is. They have

hands of gold and may live

a little differently today.

One sells dachshunds;

with the last litter he covered his roof.

Another fences stuff

or maybe just receives it

and moves it from place to place.

The third experiments

with his friend’s words

to see if the friendship’s

survived and if it has made sense.

In fact, the experiment proves

it hasn’t.

And yet another one works

as a menial in Świerk:

at home, the wife, a three-year-old,

the wife’s mother, the silent father-in-law.

So let’s go to the old haunts,

we’ll take the children for a walk,

and in the afternoon, eating a piece of cake,

we’ll watch television together.

Let’s go and see a friend to find out

who we are; he probably knows.
