No dogs; too steep for small kids or creaky knees; no bikes

When the trail reaches the dark, humid canyon floor, you’ll find a short spur leading left down to a fenced overlook of a gorgeous, unnamed low-rushing falls on Stevens Creek. A short distance downstream is another falls. Continue on about a tenth of a mile to a junction with the Wonderland Trail and a bridge over Stevens Creek. The stream here is fascinating, filled with large, smooth, almost sculpted boulders. If you’re like us, you’ll be wishing you had more light down here to take photographs—and wishing you hadn’t packed that heavy long lens. The trek back up the trail to the car is even worse than you feared on the way down. It’s unmercifully steep, but mercifully short.
