The song “Buttons” by the Pussycat Dolls started up and Oona and the women behind her began to dance.

Rayma had been bugging Oona for ages to teach her burlesque.

But how could Oona do that when they lived thousands of miles from each other?

Oona wasn’t sure, but now, she was fulfilling her little sister’s wish.

And since Mieka was a professional dancer, and could pretty much do any move to any song ever, between the two of them, they made it happen.

She and her sisters set up the evening with the dance studio, which taught burlesque classes and had all the costumes on hand, all they had to do was pay and show up. Then they had the space until eleven-thirty to do what they needed to do. Rayma squealed with delight when she realized what they were doing, hugging Oona hard enough to bruise her ribs.

Of course, they all had to sober up a little to practice, since they were dancing in high heels, but everyone was a good sport about it. Triss—feeling big, awkward and gassy—decided to sit out the dancing, but cheered them on from her comfy chair in the corner.

Oona and Mieka had prepared a simple but sexy routine, which they taught to the rest of the women, and at eleven, Triss was going to film it.

There was a big mirror in front of them, and Oona kept reminding all the women to keep their sexy faces on. To pretend that it wasn’t a mirror, that it was their man sitting there in a chair and they were giving him a private dance.

That prompted Peyton to speak up and say with an embellished pout that she didn’t have a man.

“You can just dance for a pretend man,” Rayma offered.

“That seems so pathetic,” Peyton said, deepening her pout even more so that her bottom lip curled and pushed outward. “I’ll just dance for an empty chair. At least it can’t dump me.” Then she grabbed the bottle of tequila that Mieka had smuggled in her purse and took a pull, then made a face of instant regret.

For only a few hours of training and practice, the women did exceptionally well. Krista was a little rigid and awkward at first, and she said that her outfit was riding up and chafing funny, so they switched her costume and she relaxed and got right into it. Lydia and Stacey couldn’t stop giggling, and Pasha, Rayma, and Mieka broke formation and had a twerking contest in front of the mirror.

They were all laughing until their sides and faces hurt, but eventually, they rallied and finished their routine.

Even though they had no audience, Oona wanted everyone to perform like they did. Which was why she asked Triss to film it. So all the women could take home their keepsake and watch it later, or show their partner, but not have to worry about actually performing in front of anyone. Because even though Oona performed all the time, it still spun her gut like the tea cup ride at an amusement park right before she went on stage.
