As you start getting more comfortable in the kitchen, try incorporating one new vegetable a week. If something intrigues you, grab it and figure out what to cook with it. Start small by sautéing it or baking it. See what flavor comes out of it. You might find yourself saying, “Oh, this would go really well in a sauté.” Or, “Wow, I can really see this in a muffin.” Start to trust your own gut instincts when it comes to cooking and flavoring.

The more you listen to your inner guide about food, the more empowered you will feel in the kitchen.

And the more empowered you feel in the kitchen, the better you feel and the better you eat.

Once you get more comfortable in the kitchen, use this food mood map of cooking to help you create your own dishes with no recipes needed.

It’s also important to understand that all bodies are unique and amazing and that even fruits, vegetables, and healthy foods may not agree with some people.

I’ve developed the food mood mapping system so that you can create a unique plan that fits your body. It’s important to complete a unique food mood map for your own body every six to twelve months as your body is constantly changing and evolving. Sometimes, what once made us feel great might not anymore.

It’s about developing an intimate relationship with your body. After enough practice, you will know it so well that when you crave something or get sick, you can almost pinpoint the “what” and “why.”

As you try different dishes or different foods, start to notice how you feel afterward. From there, you can start putting foods in categories based on your response to them. For example, what foods make you feel energized? What foods make you feel grounded? What foods make you feel anxious? Start adding foods to the mapping system so that you can better understand what your body needs to feel joy, happiness, serenity, or peace.
