VLookup
VLOOKUP searches for a value in the first column of a specified table, and returns a value from the specified adjacent column.
=VLOOKUP (value to look for,
table to retrieve value from,
column number with value to return,
true for exact/false for approx)
In the example VLOOKUP function demo.xlsx, we are going to apply a lookup function to calculate our shipping cost according to the shipping rates table (F15:G20).
To insert a VLOOKUP, click on the cell you want the calculation to appear in (D12), then go to your formulas ribbon and click ‘insert function’.
