LYING ON the cool wooden floor at the Taoist Energy Center, Dan should have been intent on the teacher’s description of release points, but all he could think about was Kathleen lying beside him, breathing softly, her spice overriding the incense in the air, her nearness making his ears buzz so that he could hardly hear the flute music designed to soothe and center the less horny students.

He was a mess. Worse, even, than when he’d dragged Kathleen into the whirlpool bath with him the previous afternoon. It was no small irony that today, while Kathleen innocently performed one nonsexual activity after another, he could only think of getting her naked. What a hypocrite he was.Today was supposed to be a day of balance. Maybe a dunking in the huge fountain would have cooled him down. At least he’d confirmed what Kathleen wanted out of the book tour—sales and buzz, and to get back her writing drive. He’d helped with that by kissing her, which wasn’t exactly ethical or even decent.

She’d opened up to him, but just a little. Kathleen held her emotions on a tight leash. His own feelings were hounds so wild they would jump a six-foot fence, heedless of razor wire or guards.

The class ended and Dan opened his eyes to see Kathleen leaning over him, rosy with energy, her eyes clear and steady and amused. “So, what’s next, Master Dan?”

“We go back to the hotel to study and review what we’ve learned today,” he said, rising to sit.

Kathleen merely nodded, not even bothering with a smart remark about him sounding too professorial. She was doing exactly what he’d asked—seriously considering his ideas about balance and moderation. Meanwhile, he plotted naked adventures. He was the same horny bastard he’d been ten years ago.

They headed back to Dan’s room and, once inside, his gaze shot straight to the nearest of the two beds, where they could be naked and making love in less than one immoderate minute.

Kathleen flopped onto said bed and braced herself on her elbows, flapping a bare foot against the mattress. Her breasts, a mere button flick away, taunted him. He’d kissed and stroked, licked and sucked every blessed inch of the silky flesh beneath the thin fabric of her shirt. No bra, either, dammit.

Kathleen smiled, sweetly unaware of his lascivious thoughts. “What do I read, Dr. Dan?” She turned her head, spotted the stack of books on his bedside table and lifted the top volume—his own book. Beneath it was hers. She extended that one to him. “I’ll read yours and you read mine.”

He accepted it and looked down at her, lying there so invitingly. Maybe having sex wasn’t so terrible. Maybe this was the kind of tension release they needed. They’d come to terms with the past, so maybe this would be healing and…

“Dan? You look like you want to eat me up.”

“Sorry.” Was he losing his mind? Even Kathleen knew better than to suggest sleeping together. And if anyone found out, bad buzz would be the least of his problems.
