Chapter Nine

Carrie covered her head with her hands and tried to curl herself tighter into a ball.

“Surprised to see me, love?” Toni grabbed her arm and yanked her out of her hidey hole.

“Someone help me!” Carrie glanced at the door, expecting her security team to burst through it at her call.

Toni shook her head and ran the barrel of the silencer down Carrie’s cheek, causing her body to turn to stone and become rigid. “They’re not coming, Sugar. I took care of all three of them before I came in.”

“Please, Toni, don’t hurt me.” She fell onto to her knees in front of her and clasped her hands to her chest. “Think of my children, please!”

Toni’s steps were slow as she walked a circle around her. “Hurt you?” She threw head back and a mirthless laugh escaped her lips. “You didn’t think about how much you hurt me when you had me arrested.”

“You set fire to my house and attacked me while there were police and fire officers there to witness it. It wasn’t me who had you arrested, and they had no other course of action but to lock you up.”

Toni smacked Carrie on the back of her head with the butt of the gun. “I didn’t tell you to speak!”

She continued stalking around her as Carrie bent forward and held her head in her hands.

“So, was the gimpy bitch worth it? I mean, you destroyed what we had and shacked up with her so soon after. You obviously had a plan.” She knelt down in front of Carrie and tilted her head up so their eyes met. “Tell me, what it’s like fucking a woman with one leg. Does she get off if you stroke her mangled flesh?”

Carrie had heard more than enough, and instead of shaking with fear, rage over took her. She clenched one of her shaking hands into a fist.

Toni saw the movement. “I wouldn’t think about fighting, if I were you. One little click and your blood will be all over these walls.” She rubbed her temple with her free hand and bit the corner of her lip. “However, that wouldn’t give me any entertainment.” Her tongue came out and she licked her lips slowly as her gaze traversed Carrie’s body from head to toe. “I figured we could have a little fun before I have to deal with you.”

“Like hell you will!” Carrie got to her feet and stood tall once again. Her eyes didn’t meet Toni’s but, instead, focused on a spot on the wall.

“Oh, I will, but before we get to that, I’d like to know what it is Jackie’s got that I haven’t.” Toni stopped at her side and leaned in to smell Carrie’s hair and nuzzle her ear.

When Carrie kept her mouth shut, she received the back of Toni’s hand across her face, causing bells to ring in her ears, and her cheek to sting. Another slap was delivered when her chin was turned upwards.
