As with all the spinning kicks covered in this chapter, try landing back in your original stance once the kick is complete and keep the guard tight at all times. Also, notice the position of the supporting foot at the main point of contact (Figure 263). The most common mistake people make is to not fully understand how the supporting leg works. In order to get the body in the correct position for the kick to have the maximum effect, make sure the heel of the supporting foot faces the target. This will open up the hips and assist greatly with your balance. Otherwise you may find that your body mechanics are not correct, resulting in an inferior kick.
