Neuer Pavillon

This Karl Friedrich Schinkel–designed mini-palace (New Pavilion; GOOGLE MAP ; %030-320 910; www.spsg.de; Spandauer Damm 10-22; adult/concession incl audioguide €4/3; h10am-6pm Tue-Sun Apr-Oct, 10am-5pm Nov-Mar; g109, 309, M45, bRichard-Wagner-Platz, Sophie-Charlotte-Platz) was originally a summer retreat of King Friedrich Wilhelm III (r 1797–1848). Modelled on an Italian villa where the king had stayed, it displays paintings and furniture from the Romantic and Biedermeier periods.

Mausoleum

The neoclassical 1815 Mausoleum ( GOOGLE MAP ; %030-320 910; www.spsg.de; Spandauer Damm 10-22; adult/concession €2/1; h10am-6pm Tue-Sun Apr-Oct; gM45, 109, 309, bRichard-Wagner-Platz, Sophie-Charlotte-Platz) was conceived as the resting place of the much-beloved Queen Luise but was twice expanded to make room for other royals, including Emperor William I and his wife, Augusta.

Highlights include period rooms by Hector Guimard and Peter Behrens, a Berlin Secession picture gallery, and a section dedicated to Henry van de Velde.
