The Show Will Go On

The third episode in season one of The CPP was a landmark on its own. Bullying is a universal problem, affecting the lives of living and undead children alike. This issue doesn’t stop in high school; it continues on through a person’s entire life. College, the work place, and even home are affected by it. With the recent emphasis in our country on addressing bullying, it wasn’t surprising the CPP took the problem head on.

In “Billy’s Bully”, Tubbs’ two nephews come for a visit. Billy is a zombie and Beau is living. The viewer soon enough finds out that Billy is being bullied at school by living kids, but the real shocker is when it’s revealed that Beau is bullied, too… by zombies! From there, the CPP addresses bullying as an issue that isn’t exclusive to the living or dead. “Everyone bullies everyone,” the loveable Tubbs says, “But that doesn’t mean its okay.” The group reconciles everyone’s differences and it ends happily. But the messages it leaves us with are anything but simple.

Another episode that struck true to all zombies in the face of the Traditional Zombie Values movement today was the “Tasty Tara” episode. Winston accidentally eats a side character, Tara, against her will. The Gang spends most of the episode teaching Winston (through various shenanigans and adventures) why that it isn’t okay. The CPP’s intentions were obvious: teach kids it isn’t okay to eat people against their will. While the TZV spokesperson hasn’t publicly announced a reactionary response to the episode, we think it’s only a matter of time before someone speaks up.
