After a period of searching, Micah found his way to Liberal Judaism. His personal theological development and changing life situation had already taken him to “a liberal point of view” and he was “ready to embrace Liberal Judaism on those levels” with no great problems:

This was a very exciting and emotional time for me, partly because I had just come out as gay, which was one of the main catalysts for me leaving orthodoxy and finding another Jewish approach. But I was quite devote and religious, I always wore a kippah everywhere, I kept much more kosher then than I do now, for many years. My personal religious observance has become much more liberal in the years since, quite deliberately because of my changing theological approach.
