There was no mention of his monster skills, but I could sense through our weak bond that he could still use them. I also had a good sense for how deep our bond went and it was weak as shit. Time would grow it, but as it was now there was like a fifty-fifty chance that he would even listen to me. I decided to make those odds better by throwing it another steak of Puma meat and sitting to regain my Resource pools.

“So, we going to talk about what just happened?” Blaze asked, grinning ear to ear as he tentatively reached a hand for the bear to pet it.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” I said, sensing the bears mood shift to uneasy.

He pulled his hand away but persisted. “You tamed a bear didn’t you?”

“I did.”

“Can I ride it?”

“No, you can’t ride Gummy, he’s sensitive still about being made into a companion. Best to stay clear until our bond grows.”

Blaze took a step back and said, “I call dibs on riding him first.” Then he waggled his eyebrows at the bear, who for his trouble looked at me in concern. I got a sense for his confusion and just laughed.

“Let’s get back on the road, we’ve got miles to go, and I don’t want to sleep in these woods,” I said, getting back to my feet and sending Gummy a command to follow us. He did so, much to my relief and we were back on the road.
