CHAPTER 15

Collecting himself, DR rounded the vessel to the aft deck where Debbie and Joshua were still talking. He joined them anyway. He needed to know about these dreamwalkers—or whatever he was experiencing. Debbie’s tears remained fresh on her face. She was smiling though, so he wouldn’t be imposing now.

In a one-piece blue bathing suit, she looked incredible. Yep, that no-romancing-the passengers rule was gonna be hard.

Joshua stood and gave him a hug. “Please, join us.” He slapped DR’s back before moving away. “We’re talking about dreamwalkers.”

Dreamwalkers? DR’s head snapped up. “Have you been reading my mind?”

“Well, not your mind, just your body language.” Joshua guffawed. “I saw how you perked up earlier at the subject. Sooner or later, I knew we’d end up talking about them, so why not the three of us since Debbie is having some reoccurring dreams too? You don’t mind do you, Debbie?”

Startled by this new revelation about his dreams, she looked at DR. Her eyes grew bigger, and her smile widened.

“Too?” She pinned hair back from blowing in her face so she could see him better. “Of course, I don’t mind. Maybe we can discover something new together. Maybe uncover a mystery like our sleuthing writer friends.”

DR folded his arms against his chest, even his thin red tank top suddenly too hot. “So tell us, Joshua, what are dreamwalkers and what do they have to do with my”—he waved a finger between him and Debbie—“ahem, our dreams? If you don’t already know, I don’t believe in Christianity.”

“But Debbie does, so you’ll have a different perspective from her.” Joshua rolled his eyes knowingly between the pair. “Some things require the Holy Spirit to show you their full meaning, but I’ll share the things I know.”

DR, standing across the teak wood table from Joshua and on the same side as Debbie, now pulled up a cushioned chair to maintain a safe distance for his eyes and thoughts.

Joshua’s back was to the water, leaving him nothing to focus on but his new friends. Reaching forward across the table as far as he could, he patted the tabletop. Perhaps puzzled about where to start, yet confident in where he was taking them. He smiled directly into DR’s eyes, bobbed his head, then captured Debbie’s gaze with his. “Let’s use a true story I heard on television one night.” He sat back in his seat now, tilting his head between them for a reaction. “There was a man carrying a wooden cross around the globe—Arthur Blessitt was his name, I think. He was in trouble in one of the Middle Eastern Muslim nations. Some men had guns on him, possibly to kill him. Halfway around the world, a lady—the founder of a Christian network’s wife, Jan—was awoken and led by the Holy Spirit to pray for him at the exact same time. The men dropped their guns and ran or something like that.”

“Really?” Pushing back in her seat, Debbie lowered her chin, focusing on Joshua. She grabbed the blowing hair out of her eyes and gestured with her other hand.
