SUPERMARKETS

Esselunga, in the food zone downstairs from Piazza Gae Aulenti at the Porta Nuova development (described under “Sights in Milan,” earlier), is large, right by the Garibaldi train and Metro station, and has a good deli section with ready-to-go meals (Mon-Sat 7:30-22:00, Sun 8:00-20:00, Viale Luigi Sturzo 13). The smaller Sapori & Dintorni in the basement of Milano Centrale station is also handy (daily 7:00-20:00).
