“You know I hate to agree with Soraya’s crazy ideas, but we’re on a bit of a time crunch here,” Tivali said.

“In what sense?” Bygul asked.

“In the sense that we do have other cats to place, and other humans to matematch. Not to mention in five days, Tessa goes back to work, at which point she and Wade will be on opposite schedules.”

Yeah, that was going to be a bit of a challenge.

“So, if we want them to spend any time together, we need it to happen this week.”

“I’ve got it all under control,” Bygul said. “Several things are already in the works.”

“Like what?” Tivali demanded. “The vet visit tomorrow? Just because you somehow managed to get Tessa to call the same vet Isana Meier recommended to her brother and cousins doesn’t mean they’ll actually run into each other there.”

“I have to agree,” Muezza said, “as the chances of that happening are pretty slim.”

“Oh, ye of little faith,” Bygul said. “Are we cats of the goddesses or what? A little bit of magical manipulation and miracles can and do happen.”

“Personally I vote for Santa Kitty,” Soraya said. “He’s the miracle we need.”

Bygul let out a huff of exasperation. “I’ve got everything under control. There’s absolutely no need to call in Kitty Claus.”

“Why do you hate him so much?” Soraya demanded.

“Why? Because he’s an arrogant, pompous ass.

“The name says it all. His name is Kitty. Not Santa Kitty, just Kitty. That’s his name. That’s what Mrs. Claus named him. Kitty Claus. But do you think that’s enough for him?

“Of course not! He insists that just because he’s the cat of the Clauses, he should also be known as Santa Kitty. Give me a break!

“You don’t see me walking around calling myself Freyja Bygul, do you? Of course not. That would be ridiculous!

“But he’s so arrogant he thinks just because he gets to travel in a sleigh with the Big Man once a year, he’s an actual Santa himself. It’s outrageous.”

“So,” Tivali dragged out the word. “What you’re basically saying is that you can’t stand him because he’s a lot like you.”

“What? No!”

“You do like to remind people that you’re the best matchmaker at PPM,” Muezza pointed out.

“I am the best!”

Soraya sniffed. “And Santa Kitty is Santa’s kitty, so…”

Bygul growled in annoyance. “Fine. Whatever. Call him in if you must, but I’m telling you now, that crazy cat will just make things worse.”

“Yay!” Soraya leapt up and popped out of the room, presumably to track down the idiot Claus.

“Eh, I wouldn’t worry about Kitty that much,” Muezza said. “Soraya likes to flirt with him and he likes flirting back, so chances are he’ll spend most of his time hanging out with her, rather than interfering with our matches.”

“Then what’s the point of even bothering?” Bygul demanded.

“Because,” Tivali said, “he specializes in chaos and as much as we hate to admit it, chaos is typically the turning point for every match.”

Bygul growled. He hated that she was right. “You do realize he’ll annoy all of us with his arrogant, condescending attitude.
