CHAPTER FIVE

Lex wasn’t at all surprised when he woke up with a raging headache. He rolled over to bury his head under his pillow to shut out the sunlight which was sending sharp stabs of pain through his eyes into his brain. It was when he realized he actually had room to roll over without coming into contact with the wall of flesh that had pinned him to the actual wall all night, that he groaned in frustration instead of pain.

He guessed he had to give Gage at least a little credit – he’d waited until morning to make his getaway instead of rushing out before the come was dry. Of course, that didn’t make Lex feel a whole lot better about the choices he’d made the previous night. Pulling his head out, he faced the pain head on. He deserved to pay for being so stupid.

His eyes landed on the TV tray, which had held their snacks the night before, and a grin emerged despite the pain. Instead of the empty wrappers and bottles that had been there when they’d gone to sleep, a full bottle of water sat alongside a bottle of ibuprofen. Well at least Gage hadn’t fled like his ass was on fire, that was a good sign.

Lex pulled himself into a sitting position and uncapped both the bottles. Throwing four of the little orange pills into his mouth, he downed the entire bottle of water. With as much as his head throbbed, he could at least be thankful that his stomach wasn’t protesting its new contents. He hated puking and so far, it looked like he’d be spared that fate.

Since he had nowhere to be until later that evening, he could afford to lie back down and give the pills time to start working. It also gave him time to think about Gage. He was surprised his memory of the night before wasn’t even a little fuzzy around the edges. Nope, every touch, kiss, and gasp was painted in a bright kaleidoscope of colors that, even though the thought of them made his head feel that much bigger, made him smile despite the pain.

Last night had obviously not been Gage’s first time with a man, but that didn’t mean much of anything. Lex only had to look back at his own odd collection of lovers to know that. Sure, he was only eighteen, almost nineteen, but he’d started young – at fourteen – and hadn’t ever tired in his pursuit of a good time, leaving probably one of the most diverse string of exes in his wake. Lex knew that just because a guy got off with another guy didn’t mean he’d ever be open to anything more than stolen hand jobs in the equipment room when the coach wasn’t around. He wasn’t the type of guy to pin his hopes on someone who gave him the not into it vibes Gage exuded when they weren’t drunk and horizontal.

Lex decided not to give a damn. It wasn’t like he was looking for a long-term commitment anyway.
