Drink lots of water
It cannot be understated enough how beneficial water is to your diet! Water is important for flushing fats and toxins from your body. When you don't drink enough water you become dehydrated and your body stores more water, causing you to gain water weight. Without enough water, your body will also hold onto toxins that it can't flush, potentially making you ill.
Exercise on Empty
It has been shown in recent scientific studies that exercising on an empty stomach (before eating solids or consuming too many nutrients) can cause your body to burn fat for energy. Flipping this switch is a major boost to your metabolism. Going for a brisk walk before breakfast or hitting the gym early can pay off, big time!
Protein is Your Friend
Protein in your diet has been shown to increase metabolism. Protein takes more calories to burn while it also feeds your muscles. Adding a little more protein to your meals can really help you burn those calories. Lean meats are good, as are beans, nuts and legumes.
Caffeine for Burn
Adding a little caffeine to your diet is known to burn more fat. Caffeine raises your blood pressure slightly, elevating your temperature which takes fat-burning to do. Drinking a cup of coffee or tea before your morning exercise, if your stomach isn't too sensitive, could push your metabolism through the roof!
Adequate Sleep!
Everyone knows that you need adequate sleep. Sleep is when your body repairs itself, rests, flushes unwanted waste and more. It has been shown in recent studies that not getting enough sleep can cause you to eat more during the day. When one is over-tired, it takes more food to make them feel satisfied. Getting your 8 hours is a very good idea.

This is the beginning of something wonderful. Give yourself two weeks, document your progress and success. You can do anything for 14 days. After two weeks, take a day or two off, look at your journals and reflect. See where you might make changes to your routine, and then go for it! Nobody ever got anywhere without taking that first step!
