2 Lay the flat side of the blade on the stone and pull it across the stone to flip the burr back. Go to your finest stone and do the same sequence again. The face of the tool should begin to get polished, and the burr should have fallen off or should flip back and forth with just a pass across the stone. Pull the flat side across the stone.

3 Rub some honing compound on a piece of cardboard. Place the face of the tool flat on the strop, and slide the tool from side to side through the honing compound from the top of the strop to the bottom of the strop. This should remove any remnants of a burr and polish the face of the tool so you can read in it. (As you strop, maintain the 23-degree angle on the tool.)
