Bonus Check
A well-crafted functional resume that makes it clear where the job seeker’s achievements took place can win over employers, even those who claim not to like functional resumes.
You’ll notice both of these techniques as you peruse the sample functional resumes in the Portfolio of Sample Resumes at the back of this book.
The Least You Need to Know
◆ In a chronological resume, place your achievement statements under the appropriate job title in the body of your resume.
◆ In a functional resume, your skill headings become subheadings under the Relevant Experience section in the body of your resume.
◆ Write powerful achievement statements instead of boring job descriptions.
◆ Use action verbs at or near the beginning of your achievement statements.
◆ Prioritize bulleted points within each section so the statement with the most impact comes first.
◆ Include the information on where an achievement took place in functional resumes.
