“Why the hell did we agree to meet so early.” Chloe said, as we were all sitting at the dining table eating cereal.

“Yeah, this is earlier then a school day,” Kristen added.

All of us had stayed up late but we didn’t want to miss our scheduled time with the military guys, and their surprise guest. 6:30am, or as the General had said, zero six thirty; their military time was weird but not confusing. Still, we all finished eating and went and got ready to meet in the training room. When we got in, we were a couple minutes late and opened a portal. One of the Generals and another man we hadn’t seen before, stepped through.

“Sorry we are a little late,” Natalie said.

“No worries ladies, I have a teenager back home,” the General related. “I want to introduce you to someone, who we believe may be able to assist you in the fight against the Captain.” The other man was looking around, but snapped to attention when motioned up, and the General introduced him.

We were told he was one of the top special operations officers in the military. “If anyone can help you figure out a way to kill that thing, this is the man for the job. He is yours for the remainder of our time, before the fleet arrives. He has been briefed on his mission, but you will need to go over the details.” He then looked at the soldier. “Major, I leave these ladies in your capable hands, you know the importance of this mission.”

“Yes Sir!” the man said and then saluted the General, who returned one back. The General then asked to be allowed to go back, and we opened a portal for him. Once he went through and the portal closed, we all stared at the man. He was kind of intimidating standing in his uniform with a serious, everything is business, look. I couldn’t help thinking he was going to start yelling, calling us names like in some old war movies I watched with my dad. But once the portal closed, his demeanor changed and we saw him relax.

He started to take the top off of his uniform, “Hello ladies.” We all said hello sir, and he chuckled, “Just call me John.” He folded up his top and laid it on a nearby console. “They wouldn’t tell me your names, said that was up to you all. So what should I call you?” he asked in a surprisingly nice tone.

We all looked at each other and talked for a moment, as he stood by silently. We figured we should just show him, since we were going to be working with him. We all dropped our disguises and introduced ourselves. He was kind and shook our hands, “Wow, the General wasn’t kidding you really are all teenagers.” He then ran down the line and said all of our names twice. “Helps with only having to do this once,” he said, as he saw us wondering why.
