Add an Ounce of Water
Years ago, when I was a baby, my mom would feed me formula, followed by a little bit of sterile water. Adding an extra ounce of water to a formula bottle can make all the difference in the world. Formula-fed babies seem to strain more when trying to poop as the formula moves through their digestive systems. That extra ounce of water makes things flow much easier. Some pediatricians don’t think the baby’s kidneys are mature enough for a straight bottle of water; that’s why I add just an extra ounce of water in the bottle. However, I suggest you speak to your doctor before you add additional water to formula.
