The Brian McAllister is still an active tug working the Chesapeake Bay, owned by McAllister Towing. This venerable and large tug operator is based in New York City with tug fleets in major East Coast locations, including Norfolk and Baltimore. The Brian McAllister is part of the Hampton Roads fleet, which docks at the Newport News Maritime Pier.

The Colonna Shipyard has worked on tugs for more than 100 years. This image reflects a tradition of special relationships and care with many different types of maintenance and construction projects. Bill Colonna is seen here in front of the shaft shop. Two large steel tug shafts are in the scene. The Colonna family also operated its own tug company in the 1920s and 1930s, Norfolk Towing and Lighterage Company.
