October is my favorite month of the year. Ever since I was a little girl, I have craved spooky things. So, I try to attend as many fall-themed events as I can every year. Blaine understands my obsession, so we are going to the biggest corn maze in Colorado tonight with friends. I'm thrilled to go to this maze, and I hope everyone gets along tonight. It's been a while since I got to hang out with Maddie, and I'm looking forward to it.

"Is that what you're wearing?" I roll my eyes. Blaine is being judgmental again. "We are going to walk through the corn for a while."

I pull on my black thigh boots. I like how it looks with my plaid skirt and a black long-sleeve shirt. "You're a guy who doesn't understand the need to dress with the festivities." I laugh.

"I can almost see your ass." There it is, the real reason. He is possessive.

"I'm going to wear it. It looks cute."

"Are you trying to get me into a fight?" He shakes his head in disbelief as I lock my door.

The corn maze is so much bigger than I expected. Blaine gives me a little smirk letting me know he was right about my outfit choice. As the night falls, the eerie ambiance of the maze is amplified by the rolling fog, the haunting sounds emanating from the hidden speakers and distant shrieks far off in the distance. The only source of illumination is from the flickering flames of the grotesque pumpkins that guard the entrance, casting ominous shadows on the path ahead.

"Hey, guys! I'm so glad you came!" I pull Maddie into an embrace.

"I wouldn't have missed it; you know I love spooky shit."

The usual group is here, complete with Tucker, a few frat brothers I've never met before, Cole and his date, the waitress from the pub & grill. I still haven't talked to Cole since the fight and don't plan to. So, I'm going to do my best to ignore him tonight. I hope he brought a date because he finally got the hint that he wouldn't come between Blaine and me.

"Anyone interested in a little nightcap before we start?" The red-haired frat brother holds out a silver flask with a shit-eating grin.

"Don't mind if I do." Tucker snatches the flask away from his hand, taking a swig before passing it to Maddie.

"Aspen, these are our new pledges. This is Kyle," Blaine points towards the group going left to right. "Steven and the alcoholic is Bodie." He says as he playfully punches the redhead's shoulder.

"The newest, the smartest, the best," Bodie interjects, laughing. He starts to look me up and down. Blaine slaps the back of his head. "Don't even think about it." He threatens. Bodie holds his hands up in the air. "I was just seeing what all the fuss is about." He giggles as we turn to enter the maze.

The corn maze is everything I hoped it would be. Unfortunately, the little flashlights they gave us at the entrance don’t give us much light to navigate our path.
