Since he showed up at my apartment, he hasn’t been at the coffee shop for four whole days. Usually he takes his meetings here on Monday and Friday but he didn’t come on Monday even though I promised not to nag.

Maybe he’s one of those annoying people who holds a grudge for ages. Maybe I’ll never see him again, never again get warm all over from one of his scowls or feel my heart twitch from the sound of his voice.

Leaning over the counter I put my chin in my hands, stomping my foot on the floor. I don’t really care if here never comes in here. I don’t.

I wish him a long healthy happy life...

Actually forget it, I wish him nothing but misery. If he doesn’t want to play nice, then I don’t either! When the doorbell pings I look up, expecting it to be yet another yummy mummy. But to my surprise its Blaise, a little more casually dressed this time in denims and a cashmere coat.

His eyes immediately lock on mine and like an idiot I straighten, firing a huge grin and wave at him. Turns out that he doesn’t hold a grudge after all, so yay. He gives me a curt, businesslike nod and I sour. He couldn’t even wave! Boo on you, Blaise.

Then again he’s not exactly one of those animated types.

But the guy he’s accompanied by seems to be one. It’s not Muffin Man this time but someone I haven’t seen before. This guy is a total hottie just like Blaise and they seem to be around the same age. He’s only slightly shorter with dashing blonde hair. He waves at me and I shoot him my typical, polite waitress smile.

Which by the way is far from the warm megawatt one that I give to Pendragon, though he seems to have his head too far up his tight ass to notice that I could be putty in his hands.

Blaise turns to his friend and grinds his jaw. “You just going to stand there and glare at her or do you have a job to do?” he says so viscously that I turn red and frazzled. And it’s not even me he’s scolding!

The guy throws Blaise a tense glance but stops staring at me. But not before, he introduces himself.

“I’m Lars by the way.” His teeth glimmer as his smile stretches. “From Nederland.”

“I’m Zee,” I say, just being my usual friendly self. “From across the pond.”

That muscle in Blaise’s jaw starts working again and he points at his usual table.

“Are you two done?” He points at a seat. “Sit down,” he barks at this Lars guy and to my surprise he obeys Blaise like a lapdog.

I blink, gawking and Dimitra comes up behind me.

“Salty Suit seems to be in a pissier than usual mood today,” she whispers and I nod.

“You noticed that too?” I ask as I make them their coffees.

“Think everyone noticed, if I didn’t know better I’d say...”

She pauses and I’m tight as a string.
