Keep It Clean

GETTING DRASTIC WITH PLASTIC

To remove a label or price sticker from a plastic container, rub a few drops of Wesson Oil or Star Olive Oil into the label to soften it and loosen the adhesive. Lift off the label and wipe away any remaining adhesive. To clean off any adhesive residue, place a liberal amount of Johnson’s Baby Powder on the spot, let stand for thirty minutes, and rub it off.

Do not reheat or store foods high in tomato content in a plastic container. Tomato sauce may stain the plastic permanently.

Do not clean plastic containers with abrasive cleaning pads or cleansers. These scuff the plastic surfaces, allowing stains to penetrate deeper into the plastic.

To remove stains from plastic containers, soak the stained plastic pieces in a solution of one tablespoon Clorox Bleach per cup of warm water for thirty minutes. Or cover the stain with liquid Palmolive Automatic Dishwasher detergent, let stand for thirty minutes, and rinse thoroughly.

To deodorize plastic containers, wash them with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda sprinkled on a clean, damp sponge. Or dissolve one-half cup Arm & Hammer Baking Soda in a sink full of water and soak the plastic containers in the solution.
