Margo would need to fly out to meet with web designers and computery people, but Dr. Guinn and I would be the face of the business. Once my face healed, of course! I hoped Dr. Guinn would give me enough time to heal. Otherwise, weâd have to get a really great makeup artist for our photo shoot for the cover of Tech Universe magazine (which might not be a magazine, but if itâs not, we could create that, too).
âI think itâs a very ambitious project,â Dr. Guinn said.
âThank you,â I said
âMaybe . . . too ambitious?â
âI donât understand,â I said.
Dr. Guinn stood up and started pacing behind her desk. I tried not to watch her, because the movement made me dizzy, especially with all the penguins around the room. âLife coaching is, well, thereâs a lot to it. Not only do you have to invest in the concept, thereâs so much to learn about business. Adults study years to become a coach. My own coach took a Buddhist vow of silence for a season. Then you add the technology component and . . .â
I held out a hand. âExcuse me, Dr. Guinn?â
She stopped pacing. âYes?â
âIâm so excited that you have a life coach of your own. And whew! You are right. Thereâs so much to learn.â
âExactly.â She smiled. âI want this to be fun, not overwhelming.â
âBut Dr. Guinn. I already am a life coach. I have eleven to thirteen clients, based on schedules. Iâve been in business for months. Iâve met many important business people, like Michael Morales.â
âWho is Michael Morales?â she asked. Which is fine, because she was new.
âHeâs a big deal. His face is on park benches. But anyway.â I changed out my tissue for a new one. âI already have a base. And I would build this app even without the Passion Fair. Itâs a logical next step.â
âAnd youâre doing this alone?â
That word, alone, was not fun. If Shelley had just done this project with me, I wouldnât have had to deal with that word. Or be quite as mad about Colt. Or Margo could have done it with me, although her situation I understood because Margo was the only person I knew who was more motivated than me.
âAnd you know you have to do this in a month?â she asked.
It did seem like a lot right then, but that was probably just because of the whole swollen-face thing. My normal face would be really confident. âIn one month, Iâll probably be a podcast celebrity, too.â
Dr. Guinn looked at me for a very long time. Other people might be uncomfortable with the amount of time she looked at me. Part of the reason I didnât mind was because I really believed in my passion project. Also, Iâd lost a lot of blood and was feeling a little dizzy.
âOkay, okay! I see that your passion on paper exists in real life, too. You have my support.â Dr. Guinn nodded at me. âIâm very excited to see what you come up with, Willis.
