LUNCH

While you may end up snacking all day rather than sitting down for a full-blown lunch, you do want to bring along some food that has a bit more substance than the ones listed in the section on snacks for a midday meal. Lunch can be a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or my daughter’s personal favorite: summer sausage and cheese. Your goal is to get some fats and protein into your kids to help them replace the calories they are burning during the course of the day. Cheese, tuna fish, salami, sausage, hard-boiled eggs, and nut butters such as peanut butter are all good sources of calories for hardworking children.
